Snow Day!!

We have just under a foot of snow. From snow drifting some spots are closer to a couple feet. Aaron's work closed down today because of the weather so we made the most it by going out and playing in the snow.

Northeastern Blizzard

Looks like tonight will be our first blizzard not only since living in the Northeast but in our lives. Reports as to how much snow we will actually receive is varying so I will measure tomorrow to report the actual findings. We have flashlights ready, bottled water, and plenty of food. Although I really hope the power stays on. We have a fireplace thankfully if needed and our gas stove works without power so we are all set. Below is a picture I took just after it really started snowing. There are two snow plows outside our house keeping our town home community plowed so we don't get snowed in but this is just the beginning of the storm. Safe wishes going out to all those snow plow drivers that have a long night ahead.

Snow White's First Snow!

We had snow a few days before this snow fell but this is the most snow that has fallen yet.

Volunteering

I am behind yet again on my updates! These pictures were from the weekend of Nov 6. We volunteered with MIT's community outreach program. This program was for K through 5th graders who had to work to achieve a goal with robotics. In this case it had to do with biomedical engineering. The children had to program robots to do useful things such as repair a broken bone and then put on a cast as an example.

Carson helped keep time for each round and also ran scores from the referees to the score keepers.

Aaron was a referee and I helped out with a little bit of everything.

Happy Veteran's Day

Thinking of our own veteran in Iraq right now. Our cousin Jordain with Carson and Aaron (this was taken at Ft Benning in Georgia a couple years ago. He spends his days getting to know the locals in northern Iraq and patrolling the streets to make sure everyone stays safe. We thank him and all other military personnel both current and retired for their service to our country!

A hike through history

This last Saturday we went out for a hike on Battle Road Trail where the British troops in 1775 traveled from Boston to Concord to seize supplies colonists had stored. I remember reading about the Revolutionary War in history books but it does NOT seem as if this time in history had really happened when just reading it from a book. To stand in a place where Paul Revere was captured (doesn't this sound like a fictional character? He is very real!) to where one of the first battles in the Revolutionary War happened is very surreal. Not to mention the landscape is just beautiful.

British troops advancing across this field were caught in a vicious cross-fire during their retreat to Boston from Americans concealed in the woods.

Inscription. Some of the most intense fighting on April 19, 1775 occurred in this area, which later became known as “Bloody Angle.” Unlike most of the 18th-century Battle Road landscape, which was open farmland, this site had woods and bends in the road which allowed the Colonists to set up an ambush.

Soldiers were often buried where they fell on the battlefield. This gravestone, located just in front of the marker, indicates that British soldiers were buried near this spot on April 19, 1775. There are markers just like these in many different places around Concord, MA.

Carson's first Gymnastics Lesson

As Carson doesn't have school on Tuesday's I have decided to keep him going by schooling him at home one day a week. This week we did many things including reading, writing, math, and science. Carson is going to be a pirate for Halloween so to get into the spirit we baked a pirate island! Lots of fun! And we painted a pumpkin just because Carson felt like it!

The Atlanta Braves were losing terribly by this point but just being at the games makes Carson happy! The theme for the game was Christmas in July so they did fireworks to Christmas music which was very fun.

Money Making Deal and THE Park

Just got a really good deal at RiteAid. I just bought $96.41 worth of products with only 57.77 out of my pocket. And I will get back a $30 gift card and a $40 rebate. Which gives me free products plus $12.23 profit (this including taxes). I typically don't use many coupons these days especially with our move coming up but when I saw I could get a $40 face kit for free along with a few other things I just couldn't resist. :)

And after shopping and running errands I had to run to the park and let Carson play!
